Local soccer club welcomes refugees and holds a minutes’ silence

CRS member Oliver Caruana-Brown and his team Canberra City SC, along with Weston Molonglo FC, stood together to welcome Hakeem al-Araibi and support refugees, as well as hold a minutes’ silence for the lives lost in Christchurch, before their FFA Cup clash over the weekend.
Talking to the Canberra Times, Oliver said “al-Araibi’s story transcends one man – it is a story of the “shocking” way Australia treats refugees under its protection, and what can be done when the community backs a cause.”
